Tata Sky

With consumer spending on the rise, the consumers are actually spoilt for choice for many products.... One such product is the DTH segment - DirectToHome. The first entrant into this space was DishTV.... and then a few more companies - Tatasky, sundirect, BigTV, Airtel flooded the market and the latest to join the bandwagon is Videocon... With so many DTH operators in the market... its always a little difficult to choose the right operator....

I bought Tata sky during 2007 world cup. There were not many operators in the market back then.... I thought lemme buy a Tata brand..... After that in the next couple of years, all these operators flooded the market with very good offers..... There were times when I felt that I had made a mistake of buying TataSky.... And more recently I also read a lot of articles rating the different dth operators and TatSky was languishing at the bottom of the table just above sundirect.... Initially, Tatasky lacked the full range of channel offerings . They didnt have TenAction+ as part of its channel boutique. I really felt the unavailability of the channel during the champions league football.... Finally we got TenAction+, just at the crucial time when Real Madrid was taking on Barcelona in the champions league semi-final..... That pacified me.....

Even then, after reading a lot of articles, I still used to feel that I have made a mistake...... Today, infact I felt that buying Tatasky is a not so bad idea.... Today morning all of a sudden my Tatasky remote stopped functioning and I didnt know what to do..... I had this at the back of my mind that the customer care dept would not be able to help me much... but still hesitantly I rang them and informed them abt the problem. They had lodged a compliant and told me that somebody would attend to this problem in the next 48 hrs.... In the next 2 hrs, I got a call from their service engineer..... a little amazed and then he told us that there is some problem with the remote and that he would get it replaced within the next 2 days..... For a moment I thought I'll not be able to watch TV for the next 2 days... Then, he handed over a demo remote to me and said that till u get a new remote, u can use this.... That was comforting... All these news reports, which had rated the dth operators, didnt rate them on the customer service. I would give them full marks for customer service. Come what may, tata have lived upto the trust that I had reposed in them. Thanks to Tatasky
